Big Mean Gnashy Pointy Teeth

Beaver zone ahoy! Every autumn, the family of beavers in the side stream went nuts biting down our willows. Every spring, of course, the willows went even more nuts growing back. An interesting cycle. This photo shows the first time the beavers started taking down big willows around the pond. Some mornings, I could sit out there and watch branches scooting along, seemingly without propulsion. One morning, I watched the big male beaver (hmm, isn't that some kind of contradiction?) eat a multiflora rose bush! Stripped it down to three-foot-tall stems in half an hour. It was cool.
